Bolivia produces a tiny amount of coffee compared to other countries in South America. In the 1990’s and 2000’s, foreign aid funded coffee washing stations & training programs on harvesting, drying, selecting beans, preventing fermentation and maintaining quality. CORACA CRA was established in 1990 in the region of Carrasco La Reserva, about 20 km from the town of Caranavi. Made up of 60 small holder farmer families averaging about 3 hectares each, the COOP produces about 6-8 containers of Fairtrade and Organic certified coffee a year.
